“Hope is the power of being cheerful in circumstances which we know to be desperate”

There’s something about hope – it resurrects on our bodies when the need arises. It’s instilled in us from birth – we simply have to apply it to every day living.

And yes – some days it’s hard work, for no – it’s not free.

It’s not easy to look at ourselves, at something or at someone and hope for something better – it takes determination and willpower to face a situation and hope that things could be different.

But again – hope is not free – oh but the payoff – it can be so very rewarding.

We even have factual evidence which proves that hope can often expedite the healing process.

Hope is a key concept for most Believers – In Christianity, hope is one of the three main virtues alongside faith and love – biblical hope means ‘a strong and confident expectation’ in something better.  It is a word that is similar to ‘trust’.

But again, this kind of hope takes work – it’s never a static or passive thing- now way – it’s dynamic and on the move.

Yet this thing called hope that we cherish – it is in no way an escape from reality or from problems. It also doesn’t leave us lazy, just sitting around twiddling our thumbs waiting for something good to happen – our hope in God will put us in gear.

The simple truth is this – Hope can bring us joy and peace in the midst of turmoil – Hope can give us courage, strength and boldness instead of fear – Hope can provide endurance and patience instead of tempting us to quit – Hope can offer confidence in the face of doubt – Hope can motivate us to get up and seize each day and not just go through the motions with no expectations of change – Hope can keep us positive, in an oftentimes negative world.

Having hope is an all around good thing, and yes – it’s good even in those times when what we hoped for didn’t quite happen the way we wanted them to.

So today – as we continue to meet people – some who seem to have lost much of their own hope – let’s keep on hopefully striving to be those ones who show the world His heart and the love He has for us all.

We are loved by love Himself. He loves us strong and He loves us big, and yes – love wins period

“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love” 1 Corinthians 13:13
