We become poor in spirit when everything we rely on falls apart. We see it happen every day.
For some, it may be losing a loved one, for others, it may be failure of a cherished dream or ambition, the loss of a job, the loss of faith in others or yes, perhaps even in ourselves.
It may very well be from prolonged periods of dryness in our spiritual life, or yes, just plain life experiences.
However it comes our way, we must stay mindful to remember, that yes, it’s in these painful times, in this poverty of spirit that we learn to redefine our attachments.
We simply learn, that no, we can’t rely on the usual things that our world relies on to define our identity. Things like wealth, status, possessions, and yes, other people, the truth is, all of these can be taken from us.
So yes, it’s in this that we learn, that yes, God alone is the only enduring One.
It’s in Him that we’ll find our true self. The beautiful being that He has made in His Image, for yes, He loves us, He loves us right where we are, He doesn’t care about our status, our possessions, or even who we hang with.
No sweet friends, He cares about our heart and our well being. We can’t make Him not love us, for His love is real love, and yes, because of Him and His amazing love, we can shout, over and over and over again .. haha .. oh yeah .. love wins period
