Joseph could have had Mary put to death, or yes, at least publicly humiliated her.

Yet he chose neither of those options.

Instead, he decided to handle it privately. Not just for his sake, but yes. also for Mary’s.

You see, He loved her when the angel told him not to fear taking her as his wife, and yes, even though she was expecting another man’s child, Joseph really wanted to be married to her.

Imagine the relief that they both felt when they really understood the truth, that yes, she gave birth to the Messiah.

What a night that must have been.

So yes, when we hear the term “Gentleman” used, we should think of Joseph. For the distance from Nazareth to Bethlehem was between 70 to 80 miles, and no, although we don’t know a lot of details about the trip, for Mary it must have been uncomfortable.

The trip was slower for her sake, and yes, when they arrived in Bethlehem the scriptures tell us there was no room for them in the inn.

They were turned away.

So yes, as we replay this story today, we each can find ourselves the Innkeepers, deciding if there’s room in our hearts for Him,

What an honor it is to be a part of what the scriptures foretold.

We are loved by love Himself. He loves us big and He loves us strong, and yes .. love wins period.

“And she gave birth to her firstborn, a Son. She wrapped Him in swaddling cloths and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.”
Luke: 2:7
