Let’s think about discipline this morning – and how we should use any and all discipline we can muster up to our advantage as we focus our efforts on growing in our faith, growing in love, and growing in our delight toward God.
When we do this – greater discipline will come naturally.
The truth is – we can’t just drift along thinking we can let our love toward Him grow in response to Him, no way – we must be intentional about it – while yes – constantly thanking Him that we don’t have to settle for so little.
And friends – we need to do this often, It’s just like anything else – our love can grow cold and we can get dull toward Him quickly.
So yes, the bottom line is simple – loving Him is just too important for such a passive approach to growth – so we take action by becoming a wise and understanding teacher – while making our own heart our best student – staying determined to have fun – getting it to hear the many reasons we don’t have to be afraid, so that yes – in turn, we can love and treasure Him, more and more each day.
This is how we learn to live and love freely, always trusting and always believing the simple truth.
We are loved by love Himself. He loves us big and He loves us strong, and yes – love wins period.
“For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it” Hebrews 12:11
