Disappointment. It’s mean. It speaks of failure. It speaks of not measuring up, and yes, it speaks of pure frustration.
It sits right down on our soul and utterly deflates it. It comes to us in so many ways. Something as trivial as a movie that failed to deliver or yes, as severe as a blow to the heart that sends us whirling. Yes, disappointment is far from hope. It can totally debilitate us. It can and will, if we let it, turn inward to ourselves, outward toward another, and yes, it can even turn toward God .
Oh but friends, listen up. Our God, He’s big enough, and yes, His love is fierce enough to deal with anything we feel or face.
So we stop, and yes, we acknowledge the reality, that it’s true, life can deeply disappoint us. His Word doesn’t shy away from it, nor should we. It’s how we handle the disappointment that matters. We can no longer allow ourselves to feel tempted to throw in the towel, for no, we can’t lose weeks, we can’t lose months, nor, can we lose years of our lives trying to recover from something we feared would destroy us, just to find out, that yes, when the storm settles, we see again, that yes, He was in control all along, no matter how it appeared or how we felt.
Oh I know, it hurts, however, pain doesn’t have to become our enemy, for yes, disappointment is simply a part of life. We don’t need to view it as a disaster. We need to view it as an appointment, to learn, and yes, to grow. It’s simply a pathway to hope.
So yes, for this very reason, we recognize disappointment as a turn in the tide, and no, not the end of the journey, while all the while, knowing in our heart of hearts, that yes, He loves and cares for us, more profoundly than we’ll ever know.
After all, He is love itself, and yes .. haha .. oh yeah .. love wins period
