The Bible says “A cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones”
My youngest granddaughter, Avery Kate dressed up last week as me, her Mimi – for the 100 year old day. I went ahead and took it as a compliment as that seemed the fitting thing to do in this case.
She put on her black, threw on her glasses , may even have grabbed a clipboard – and went about her day as Mimi. She told me she acted like me all day. When I asked how she did that – she simply said – “I laughed “
Of course this blessed my heart to no end – but also got me thinking about the scripture above – and yes – how interesting it is that there have been studies done throughout the years – that show laughter has some exciting benefits.
Laughter causes the release of endorphins – a chemical in the body that relieves pain and creates a sense of well-being.
It can raise our energy level, relieve tension and change our attitude.
It increases antibodies and strengthens our immune system.
The truth is – a good belly laugh causes us to inhale more oxygen and stimulates our heart and blood circulation. It’s like internal aerobic exercise.
(chuckle) – No wonder the enemy wants to steal our joy and get us discouraged, depressed and downtrodden.
So – it’s with this truth, that we must stay mindful to remember – the thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy – however – we don’t have to give in to him, and no – we don’t have to lose our joy.
We, hands down – make the decision to enjoy our life – if we’re too serious about everything – we need to lighten up – we need to learn to laugh at ourselves and laugh at the things that normally frustrate us – it’s that simple.
We all have things about us and in our lives that need to change, but they’ll really only change – when we’re abiding in Him and living in joy because of Him
As we go about our day today, let’s make this our goal – rejoice in the Lord – as our joy in Him gives us strength, we’ll be able to face any problems we have to deal with, and yes – we’ll enjoy our life while we’re doing it!
Bottom line – we are loved by love Himself. He loves us big and He loves us strong, and yes – love wins period
Thank you Avery Kate for the reminder that love and laughter is where its at – it brings light – and you sweet girl – are a shining light in all of our lives.
“Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” Psalm 126:2
