I spent much of the day yesterday with my niece Lisa and nephew Matt from Illinois .. that’s where my dad was born and raised .. from there he enlisted into the Marine’s .. fought in World War II .. and yes .. when leaving the service he came to Florida .. married my mom (who was a native) .. and no .. we never left .. and yes .. although today he’s no longer with us .. I sit here this morning thinking about him .. and yes .. the memories I carry .. and yes .. about Memorial Day and just what it means .. for today is a day set aside for all of us to remember those who have served and now serve to keep us safe and to keep us free .. in a sense .. it’s a day to celebrate unconditional love .. we have veterans who have stood on the line and given their life so that we can have the freedom we have right now .. and yes .. we tend to forget about all the sacrifices they have made along with their loved ones .. for it seems like if it’s not important and not in the news right here and right now .. then no .. it’s just not that big of a deal .. no .. we don’t always recognize the sacrifices that have been made that have put us in the position where we actually wake up in the morning to breathe and say .. “I’m free!” .. haha .. yes .. our memories can be short .. but not today .. today we get up .. we thank God for another day as we lift up and thank these men and women who currently serve .. while yes .. paying our respect to those who are no longer with us .. for yes .. it’s out of love that they all serve and have served .. and yes .. as we all know .. without a doubt .. haha .. oh yeah .. love wins period
