I’m sure we can all agree – none of us are perfect people – we’ve all made a lot of mistakes in our lives, and yes, we’ve all hurt people.
For myself, where possible I’ve asked for forgiveness – from some I’ve gotten it and we’ve moved on to a better place and understanding – yet from others – I’ve been alienated and still am today. It can be a sad feeling with emotions to match.
However, what God has shown me and continues to show me is simple – “hurt people hurt people” – it’s a constant circle. The reality is – we’re all a little broken somewhere, and no – there’s not one single one of us that isn’t fighting some sort of battle.
So, when we find ourselves trying to justify our wrongs – we need to remind ourselves that there is no justification for wrong – there’s only grace and forgiveness. When we admit our wrongs and we do what we can to make them right, we’ve done our job and it’s no longer on us.
However, there is one key ingredient we can’t leave out – we must also “forgive ourselves”. We can’t continue to beat ourselves up. No sweet friends, we have to move forward and no longer dwell on it – there’s no reason in the world to continue to hurt or to be hurt.
The bottom line is – until we do this – we can’t use the mistakes of our past to benefit those who need help today. For yes – just like you and I they hurt and they need to know – God is good – God is faithful – God is forgiving, and yes – God Is Love.
It’s when we truly realize and believe this truth, that we’ll begin to live in true freedom, and yes – He’ll get the glory each step of the way. We are loved by love Himself. He loves us big and He loves us strong, and yes – love wins period
For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us” Psalm 103:11-12
