“While we are mourning the loss of our friend, others are rejoicing to meet him behind the veil”
It has taken a little time for me to be able to sit down and write about this lovely soul – Brannon, he was a light in the dark when we needed lifting up.
I spent much time with Brannon alone in the kitchen when he was with us at GBC while he was building his beloved “Down Island”
And yes – although his hopes and dreams were cut short on this earth – they will always remain in the hearts of those left to keep moving behind him.
Brannon was a good friend and mentor to my son, Donald and a best buddy to my daughter in law, Cortney. We all just loved him so much. I remember the day this picture was taken in Monet Monet Gardens – cutting up and cooking food – story of Brannon’s joyful life that he loved so much.
There are so many memories we all carry of this kind and gentle man – and it’s true – grief has a way of inducing tunnel vision. However, we can be grateful to know that we know that we know – because we believe in an afterlife – we will see and meet our friend there.
Honestly – there are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone the light remains – Brannon was one of these people, and yes – even though he is gone now – his impact will remain in so many of us.
Some days will be harder than others – but what we must stay mindful to remember is – when dealing with the death of a friend seems impossible – we must allow ourselves to feel every emotion, for yes – it’s crucial to healing.
Whether we write, go through mementos, or read sympathetic quotes, we must try to work through it gently – always and forever remembering, that yes – Brannon would be proud to see us healing in his memory – and that sweet friends is a – bottom line fact.
We are loved by love Himself. He loves us big and He loves us strong, and yes – love wins period
