When I think about food .. I think about family and friends .. haha .. being in the catering business lends to this thinking .. for yes .. most of what we do is for family celebrations .. whether it be an over the top wedding .. or yes .. a simple sit down on the beach meal .. with the sunset as the backdrop .. it’s always a time of celebrating being together .. my niece Lisa and her husband Matt (my nephew) just moved to town .. they’re closing on their Florida home on Tuesday .. so needless to say .. there’s excitement in the air .. mixed with a little anxiety .. haha .. they’ve been living in a hotel for the last few weeks since selling their home in Illinois .. so yes .. last night .. a meal was in order .. and honestly .. I don’t cook at home that much anymore .. these days we eat simple .. we eat out .. or yes .. we eat at Donald and Cortney‘s with the family .. however .. last night I cooked .. and yes .. I remembered how .. I made chicken and dumplings (Donald’s favorite) .. field peas (Robert “PopBob’s” favorite) .. tomato and cucumber salad (Cortney’s favorite).. and yes .. sweet corn bread to go with it (everybody’s favorite) .. followed by good old fashioned pound cake and fresh strawberries (Lisa you forgot yours!) .. it was good .. and yes .. as food seems to do .. brought everyone together .. separate times .. but yet .. all together .. and yes .. as I was washing the dishes after everyone left and the house was quiet .. I thought to myself how blessed we all are to have family and friends .. how wonderful God is to have put us all together to love and support one another .. we bend the way we need to bend for the love of those we love .. we overlook the madness of what can be .. and yes .. we come together when in need .. we give each other room to grow .. and yes .. we do it all with His love that rests inside of us .. haha .. I had been reminiscing most of the day .. from Three Dog Night to Johnny Cash .. and yes .. the comfort of the music .. the cooking of the food .. the family .. and yes .. the big love ,, did indeed .. make for a wonderful Sunday Funday .. haha .. so now .. as we wake (no matter the time) with a new week in front of us .. let’s make the commitment .. to yes .. take a minute with each person we meet .. and yes .. lift them up .. give them a good old fashioned .. “how you do” .. haha .. and yes .. show them the love .. His love .. that He’s so graciously given each of us to share .. for yes sweet friends .. it’s a proven fact .. that yes .. “sharing is caring” .. and that yes .. haha .. oh yeah .. love wins period
