Let’s talk about forgiveness this morning. We fight it so we won’t forget the hurt. However, forgiveness, it doesn’t require amnesia, for no, there’s no amount of forgiveness, that can make a wrong right, kind, just or God pleasing. There are consequences that can come from the wrong, responsibilities that must be met, and yes, although we may have suffered due to the wrong, that suffering, it’s helped make us who we are today.
The truth is, we may still feel the hurt, and yes, at times the memories may punch back at us from behind, yet, we must stay mindful of the fact, that no, God was no pushover in forgiving us, so no, we don’t have to be a pushover when we forgive others. However, His Spirit calls on us to forgive, and yes, the way forward often has many steps, and yes, we have to figure out what those steps are, even after we forgive.
The rewards of forgiveness are so big, that yes, it sucks the viper’s poison out of the past, while all the while, making it a part of the living, instead of a part of rotting away within.
Bottom line. Forgiveness means freedom, and yes, we must follow His lead, and yes, let it go. Think about it. We’re loved by love Himself, so yes, we must head His call, and yes, stop where we are, dead in our tracks, and yes, break free, right here and right now, for yes yes yes, always and forever .. haha .. oh yeah .. love wins period.
