Today is known as “Lazarus Saturday”  and yes, although we are in the middle of a pandemic that is sweeping our nation – let us be reminded of, and yes, focus on – the Holy Week ahead and the power of Love ..

Jesus arrived at Bethany where Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days. Many had come to console his sisters, Mary and Martha. When Martha heard that Jesus was approaching, she went to meet Him right away to tell Him that here brother had died, and yes, if He would have been there this would not have happened.

Jesus asked to be taken to the tomb, where he wept for His friend.  He then asked for the stone that covered the door be taken away – He was not bothered that Lazarus had been there four days and the smell would overcome them – for yes, He knew as He called out for Lazarus to come fourth that He would, all for the sake of the crowd standing around, so that yes, they would believe in Him, and yes,  believe that His Father had indeed sent Him – in the name of Love.

As a result of this miracle, many that were present did believed in Him, while others, they went straight away and told the Pharisees what Jesus had done. And yes, in response to this, the Pharisees and chief priests met and considered how they might arrest Him and put Him to death

This miracle that He performed was a reassurance to His disciples before the coming Passion, so that they, as well as us today – would understand, that though He suffers and dies – He is Lord and Victor over death.

So yes, this double fullness of His divinity and His humanity is for us to keep in view throughout this upcoming Holy Week.  This is a time for us to take our eyes off of the troubles of the world, and yes, stay home and focus on the reality, that yes, God is Love and Love is life.

This is why “Lazarus Saturday” is the beginning of both – the Cross, as the Supreme sacrifice of Love, and yes, the Resurrection, as the ultimate triumph of Love.

It’s going to be an exciting week ahead, for yes ..

We are loved by love Himself.  He loves us big and He loves us strong, and yes .. love wins period

“When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.”  John 11:4
